The Codfish History Interpretation Centre is a place where you learn one of the most epic stories in the history of Portugal – the discovery of Newfoundland and the adventure of cod fishing in the frozen seas.
This is a return to the epic poem of the Portuguese overlooking the mythical Creoula and the great Tagus. An interactive place bringing together the best technology and most fantastic tradition. Where we teach our history and tell our stories.
The Codfish History Interpretation Centre stands as a site of remembrance dedicated to codfish and the connection the Portuguese have to the sea. It points towards a dimension of education and knowledge associated with experiencing discovery and leisure.
Hence, this Centre stands for the stories it allows us to tell and the creative valuation of codfish as a cultural heritage and a symbol of the identity of our City and Country.
The Codfish History Interpretation Centre – probably the only place in the world where they tell you about Brás and Gomes de Sá.
